Cut Your College Costs

~  Who We Work With  ~

We work with families from a variety of social and economic backgrounds.   Some are small business owners, some are regular workin’ folk, maybe two-income families or perhaps grandparents wanting to help their children’s children.

What they all have in common is the desire to provide the best education possible for their children and grandchildren but not sure how to accomplish it.  From choosing potential careers and possible colleges to filling-out forms for Financial Aid and Admissions, they understand it’s complex, time-consuming and fraught with countless opportunities for errors.

At CutYourCollegeCosts.com, we’re committed to helping make college an affordable reality.  We’re passionate about helping families lower their out-of-pocket college expenses, maximize their eligibility for Financial Aid and increase the opportunity of admission to their colleges of choice.

Are you struggling with any of these situations?

I don’t know where to start.  I want to send my kids to college, but between choosing careers and colleges, and filling-out Financial Aid and Admissions forms, I’m overwhelmed.  Is there an easy way to sort through all of this?

We were hoping our son would get an athletic scholarship, but no-one’s making any offers.  And we can’t afford to foot the bill on our own.  Is it too late?  I don’t want my kid stuck in dead-end jobs for the rest of his life.

How do I evaluate different universities?  Our son is very clear about being an architect.  How do we find the schools in our budget and then choose the best one?

EFC?  COA?  I don’t understand the Financial Aid system.  This is all very confusing.  Can you help me figure how much Aid we’ll qualify for?  And what about the rest?  I not very good with money.  Do you help families budget for college?

My parents (Sally’s grandparents) want to help fund her education.  Our neighbors were in a similar situation.  The grandparents wrote a big check to their grandson for college and he was disqualified for Financial Aid.  We need the scholarship money and don’t want this to happen to us.

I’m mystified by the entire Financial Aid system.  Even though my daughter’s only sixteen I’m starting to learn about Financial Aid - but the process, forms and calculations all make my head swim.  Why is it so confusing?

We waited too long to start saving - HELP ! ! !  Sam’s a sophomore in high school and wants to attend college to become a biologist.  His Dad and I haven’t saved a dime towards his education.  Instead we’ve saved for our retirement and almost paid off our house.  Many of our friends have gone into serious debt for college, which we don’t want to do.  Should we take money out of our retirement accounts when it’s time to enroll?

We’ve got about ten years before our daughter goes off to college.  Some of our friends waited too long to start planning and are really paying the price.  Where do we start?

I earn to much to qualify for Financial Aid, but not enough to afford to pay the entire bill.  I’m self-employed with three kids and a firm believer in higher education.  I earn a good living for my family but can’t afford to pay for college three times over.  I’ve done my homework and learned we won’t qualify for Financial Aid.  Have I missed anything?  Is there any help for someone in my position?

We’ve been saving for Jacob’s college education since he was six.  Now as we fill out the Financial Aid forms we learn this counts against us.  Why does having savings in my child’s name make us ineligible for Financial Aid?  Is it too late to do anything?

I’m confused by the Financial Aid awards we’re receiving.  Are loans better than work-study?  Are grants better than scholarships?  I don’t understand how going to a more expensive school is better even if they’re offering more money.  And is it true I can ask for more money?
